Coffee Cup with Roasted BeansJDE as it is known as today originated in the Netherlands back in 1753 when Egbert Douwes and his wife opened a grocery store and began selling coffee and tea as well as other essential goods to the local community. Trade flourished and as a merchant of goods Egbert used the extensive waterways to expand his business.

Meanwhile in Bremen, Germany in 1895 Johan Jacobs opened his first grocery store later assisted by his nephew Walter in opening Jacobs Coffee Wundebar in the 1920's .

JDE now offer professional solutions in all sectors with coffee now becoming ever increasingly popular. UTZ Certified is a programme and a label for sustainable farming, launched in 2002 initially for coffee growers it is now the largest programe for sustainable farming of coffee and cocoa in the world.

It stands for sustainable farming and better oppurtunities for farmers, enabling them to learn better farming techniques, improve working conditions and the welfare of their families.

Through the UTZ programme farmers grow better crops generating more income while taking better care of the earths natural resources.
